Paige & Alex - August 2022

Paige and Alex celebrated their wedding at The Farmhouse in Wilmington, Delaware on the perfect Summer day. We asked the newlyweds some questions about their special day!

How did you meet your significant other? How did he/she propose? Alex and I met in DC through a mutual friend. I had just returned from my Peace Corps service and Alex was studying to earn his doctorate in psychology. After 3 years together, Alex proposed in Charlottesville in May 2021. He invited all of our closest friends down to stay in a cabin for the weekend. Before the group headed out for a day of wine tasting, in front of all our friends, Alex popped the question! After I said yes, he led me over to watch a video he created with all our friends and family who could not be in Charlottesville. The rest of the day was spent sipping wine and celebrating.

Why did you choose The Farmhouse for your wedding? What were some of your favorite things about the venue?

We chose The Farmhouse for our venue for the all inclusive package. I was still in graduate school at the time and having a venue that came with EVERYTHING was amazing. We looked at other venues that would have required us to coordinate with multiple vendors and consistently nickel-and-dimed us. With The Farmhouse, everything we needed was included, the pricing was clear, and not to mention, the venue was absolutely gorgeous. Specifically, our favorite aspects of The Farmhouse was their outdoor ceremony, with its beautiful greenery and was the perfect place to hold all the people we wanted for our intimate wedding ceremony. Additionally, the grounds themselves made for stunning photos throughout the day. The food was phenomenal and all the staff were incredibly helpful from the planning phase, all the way to the wedding day itself.

What was one of your favorite moments on your wedding day?

For Alex, it was the first dance that we had choreographed together. For Paige, it was walking down the aisle and having the moment she had imagined for so long, and to see it looking more perfect than she had ever dreamed.

What song did you choose for your first dance? What other special touch did you include on your big day?

We chose La Vie En Rose by Louis Armstrong. Having this choreographed was such a great choice and something we won't ever forget. Paige and her mother, with all of the women who had been at her bachelorette performed a choreographed dance as well.

Additionally, as Alex is Jewish and Paige is Unitarian, we had the Tallis from Alex's great grandfather over the pergola, and a chalice made by Paige's late grandfather as part of our ceremony. To honor other family members, we also created an "Our Foundation" table, that had wedding photos from both Paige and Alex's grandparents and parents.

For our flowers, we chose sunflowers, as they are Paige's favorite flower, so much so, that Alex got a sunflower engraved into Paige's engagement ring.

Finally, instead of favors at each table, we chose to donate to causes and charities that were important to both of us in honor of our guests.
